A new approach to working for the artist that cultivates the whole self -
physical, emotional and mental.
Drawing from a unique combination of Vinyasa yoga, Linklater Voicework, Thai Massage and Artistic Exercises, Check-In develops a creative habit that not only caters to the artist's performance skills, but serves the artist outside of the rehearsal hall. Check-In reinforces the resilience, stamina, resourcefulness, connection, initiative, positivity and health required to maintain a life in the arts.
Brennan Check-In has attended the HBMG National Winter Playwright's Retreat for three years in a row! Empowering diverse artists is paramount in the Retreat's Mission.
Check-In is in development with the BFAs at Oklahoma City University.
Last Fall we successfully piloted a new course called Actor's Instrument with the BFAs. In it, they practiced yoga regularly and expanded their definition of what it means to be an artist.
Second through Fourth-year BFAs are completing of Voice 1. This semester they recognized habits and broke through blocks while speaking original Voice Poems, explored vibration and shared Shakespeare Text. They just shared their final Curiosity Projects. Highlights included: unique journaling techniques, original music compositions, a first book draft, a first musical draft, meditations, chakra investigation and alternative alphabet explorations. What could you accomplish if you were just curious?
