Kate's practical experience ranges from grantwriter to casting director, outreach coordinator to literary manager and everything in between. In 2012, she  became  Artistic Director for BCKSEET Productions 

(www.bckseet.com) where she founded the education program, BCKSEET Ignition, in 2007. BCKSEET produced two of her original musicals: Some Assembly Required in 2010 with an accompanying cast album, and ELFuego in 2012. Celebrating its 15th year, BCKSEET Productions has now evolved into IGNITION ARTS - "stART something"

 

In 2013, Kate completed the Shakespeare & Company Winter Intensive where she studied with master teachers Tina Packer, Dennis Krausnick and Toni Simotes among others. She has trained with Louis Colaianni, Kristin Linklater, Andrew Borthwick-Leslie, Andrea Haring, Andrew Wade, Kimberly White, Ariel Bock, Robert Serrel, Kate Burke, Richard Warner, Heidi Marshall and Heidi Hayes.

Kate Brennan

Kate Brennan is a performer, educator and creator.  She is currently Assistant Professor of Voice & Acting at Oklahoma City University.  

Her teaching roster has included University of Virginia, Temple University, St. Joseph's University, Rosemont College, Montgomery County Community College, and Merion Mercy among others. Kate has also taught with Theatre Direct International's Broadway Classroom program, McCarter Theatre, HB Studio and out of her private studio. 

 

Kate performed and taught for nearly a decade in Philadelphia before relocating to NYC a few years ago where Check-In was conceived. In Philadelphia she worked with a variety of theatre companies including New Paradise Laboratories, Walnut Street Theatre, Luna Theatre Co., EgoPo Classic Theatre Co., Mauckingbird, Simpatico Theatre Project and Passage Theatre Co. 

In 2014 & 2015, Kate traveled to Orkney, Scotland where she was one of two Americans in an international group to complete the Linklater Teacher Designation.

 

Kate received her 200-hr. Yoga Teaching Certificate from Yogamaya, where she also taught.  She became certified in Thai Bodywork with Ananda Thai Sacred Bodywork in NYC in Spring 2015. She is currently in the midst of her Advanced Yoga Teacher Certification.

Her latest projects include further developing The Infinity Plays - a YA musical trilogy consisting of ALIEN8, Clean Slate & Illuminate.  All were co-written with David Lee White - the first two for McCarter Theatre's education program and The Brennan Book Blog Podcast.

 

Kate holds an MFA from the University of Virginia, is a certified Yoga teacher, a Designated Linklater Voice Teacher, Thai Bodyworker, MELT Hand & Foot Instructor, a book blogger, podcaster, a member of Actors' Equity, VASTA and is listed in the urban dictionary under "Renaissance woman."
